How Are You Spending the Summer?

So, let's hear it. Where are you going? Who's coming along? What do you plan to do when you get there? What draws you back, time and time again? What's your favorite thing to do?

Where Did All My Stuff Go?

Anyone who follows my blog on a regular basis is going to be pretty surprised at the deep discount on posts and features. In truth, I went from over 1000 posts to slightly less than 500. Why? Well, it's all due to a scary blog post I read this week about Roni Loren's experience. You can find it here (and I urge anyone who has photos they did not take themselves anywhere on their blog to go look!)

I've just spent the last two days revamping my blog. I probably went overboard, but better safe than sorry. First to go were my Music to Write By posts, which included videos from YouTube. Then, I remembered all those little images on my Monday Pop Quiz features. How do I know the quiz creator either created those images or had permission to use them? Yanked. After that, all my holiday greetings with the sparkly art work. Same question applies to them. El-gone-o.

I even removed all my funny LOLcat and LOLdog photos to be safe.

In fact, at this stage, the only images left on my blog are my own covers, one or two covers for friends that specifically promote their books, and photos I took myself.

You might want to do the same. Thus concludes today's public service announcement.

My good friend, Carolyn Hughey, is interviewing me over on the Avalon Authors blog. And I've included a brief scene from my newest release. Stop by, read all about Luc and Jodie, and say hi. I'm giving away two copies of Eternally Yours, my first indie-pubbed paranormal romantic comedy. Leave a comment to be in the drawing!

Friday Five: My Five Favorite Shows on ID

Are you an ID addict? That's the tagline for Discovery Channel's Investigation Discovery channel. I answer with a wholehearted, "Omigod, yes!" I am hooked on ID and watch it all night.

In case you don't know what you're missing, let me 'splain. ID is true crime all day every day. I admit, my family's a bit creeped out by my obsession with all things ID, but I just remind them it's research. And it is, really. It doesn't matter if you write suspense or mystery, the biographical backgrounds on both victims and criminals is awesome for characterization. What are you waiting for? Start watching! Here are five of my top, must-see shows:

1. Who the Bleep Did I Marry? Ain't love grand? Well, not always. If you don't believe me, check out what happened to some of these poor spouses who thought they married Prince or Princess Charming, but were horribly mistaken.

2. Deadly Women. Need I clarify? Stories from modern time as well as history about women who killed to solve whatever problems they encountered. I let the family come to their own conclusions on how this one serves as "research."

3. Behind Mansion Walls. Because money doesn't always buy happiness. Sometimes, it buys murder.

4. Scorned: Love Kills. Remember the bunny scene in Fatal Attraction? Yeah, it's like that. On crack.

5. Facing Evil. An FBI profiler reviews a killer's case and then actually interviews the killer in prison. Characterization anyone?

There are lots more to choose from and new shows being added all the time (I caught the new Dates From Hell the other night and was riveted! I have a feeling that's gonna be a new favorite.) So are you an ID addict? What's your favorite?

A Hundred Degrees on Chocolate Day?!

Umm...yeah. The temp is supposed to hit triple digits here in my corner of the world. What's a girl to do? Well for now, while my outdoor thermometer is still in the 80's, I'm sitting outside on my covered swing, a glass of iced coffee by my side (coconut mocha flavored in honor of the holiday), my iPod on the outside speakers playing my favorite writing music, and my trusty laptop taking down my scintillating verbiage.
Once the mercury climbs above 90, I'll slink back inside to air-conditioned comfort, but the rest of the routine will remain the same.
Regardless of the weather where you are, I have great news:

TODAY'S CHOCOLATE DAY!

So go forth, my friends. Indulge in something cool and chocolatey. Italian ice is a good choice. Ice cream, iced mochas, Yoo-hoos, frozen Girl Scout Thin Mints...
Whatever you choose, I know it'll make your day a little sweeter!

Friday Five: Five Lines from Eternally Yours

Eternally Yours is my latest release, a story I consider the book of my heart. What makes Eternally Yours so unusual? My characters are all dead. In fact, my heroine, Jodie, commits suicide in Chapter One. The entire story takes place in the Afterlife. Come on. You know you're curious.

You can find it at Smashwords, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

1. “Let’s not measure attitude, pal. You’ve got enough diva in you to belt out La Traviata.”

2. You think this is some chick flick where you’ll just pop down to a psychic, get her to talk to the love you left behind, and then the beings of magical light will carry you away to the Sweet Hereafter for doing a good deed for a stranger in pain. And you don't see anything funny.”

3.  "Yeah, right. And men go to strip clubs for the music."

4. "That sounds like a fair fight. Two big, strong, strapping men against a pair of women. Don’t worry, Luc. We’ll try not to hurt you."

5. “How much of that is really you and how much is…umm…” While her mind struggled for a better description, her mouth went with “…digital manipulation?”
